Hey everyone, I got some big news regarding this website. You might have noticed that I’ve made a few changes on this site and that I am no longer posting anymore panda content on this site. That is because I am posting all Punching Pandas® content on punchingpandas.com. The change has been a long time coming, but I did so because I want to strengthen the pandas brand, but also allow this site to serve as my outlet for other creative endeavors.

One of the big changes to this site will be the removal of the online store. The store will remain functional on punchingpandas.com and will feature the current catalog on my shop. I’m also updating the catalog with some new products in the new future, so be sure to check the panda store for any updates.

Anyways, there are a few bugs left to figure out, so thank you for your patience if you experience any problems with the new website structure. If you have any questions, please reach out to me on my contact page. Cheers!

Here’s a little work in progress for a story I’ve been working on. I won’t reveal the plot just yet, but let’s just say it has to do with a gorilla and a picnic. Below is an art test that I made for the gorilla. Right now, I’m also putting together a dummy book as a rough draft, and eventually moving on to more developed art. There will be more updates coming up in the next few months, but in the meantime, enjoy this little preview of things to come.

I recently submitted a piece for Gallery 1988’s Memes show. It’s based off of the Success Kid meme and even includes a cameo by you-know-who. The show will be next Friday, April 14 at their West location on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. If you happen to attend the show, snap a photo and send it to me!

I’m happy to announce some recent work that I completed for a small-time client. Actually, they’re not that little, but their mascot’s is supposed to be, sort of…

It's weird seeing my name in here.

I just received my copies of Disney’s Princess comics, and whaddyaknow! My name’s in them! Both issues are spotlight editions featuring comics for Rapunzel and Belle. My main contributions have been rough layouts and inks. Fortunately, my messy drawings are cleaned up and colored by the talented Brianna Garcia and Mitch Leeuwe. Go check out their work when you get a chance. Below are a couple of strips that feature my layouts.

Below is an Instagram post by comics artist extraordinaire Amy Mebberson who worked on the previous 8 issues including these spotlights editions.

Thanks to Joe Books for reaching out to me for this project. There are more strips to come, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled at your local comics shop for future issues!

Convention season is here, and it’s time to open up pre-commission slots for Emerald City Comicon! I’ll be tabling again in the Artists Alley at Table G-10, and this year, I have the pleasure of having the awesome Patrick Ballesteros as my neighbor, so be sure to check out his table too (that is if you can get through the crowds in front of his table). Also, my Panda Courier piece was accepted for the Monsters and Dames art book, and I will have prints available for that piece as well as prints of my latest Pandamonium pieces.

Today, I’m opening up pre-commission slots exclusively for ECCC. All prices are for a single character with a simple background. Prices are subject to change depending on the complexity of the character. These prices are for ECCC pre-commissions and ECCC commissions only.

I recently finished a tribute piece for an upcoming art show titled, “Sweethearts, BFFs, and Bromances” from 2/11-2/26. The show is being hosted by my friend Patrick Ballesteros at The Perky Nerd in Burbank. Click here or the image below to access the Facebook event page.

All of the show’s pieces are based on memorable relationships from pop culture. I chose to do a piece based on a scene from the 1986 film, “Castle in the Sky” directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. Prints will be for sale at the shop and will be added later to the shop after the show runs. Below is a close-up of the final piece.

This is a last minute announcement, but I will be tabling at the Artist Alley at the Jet City Comic Show this Saturday, November 5. I’m only able to exhibit for one day, so if you plan to visit my table this weekend, make sure to stop by on Saturday. I will have prints, books, and t-shirts available as well as commissions. If you are interested in a commission, please visit my commissions guidelines page. Hope to see you there!

I’m happy to announce that the Punching Pandas are now on Redbubble! Now you can have your favorite panda art on a hoodie, a phone case, a mug, and even a duvet cover! I also included some of my other non-panda art on Redbubble which you can browse in the “Nolen Lee Art” section. Don’t forget to click the “Follow” link so you can get updates when a new product is uploaded.

I will still have my own site store running on this site, but I’m transitioning it to only carry original art and special pieces; you can access links to both stores under the “Shop” menu in the header. Make sure to check back every now and then for new products and updates. Cheers!
