Escape

This wasn’t really a speed drawing, it actually took me a couple hours until I had something I wanted to go with.  I was actually feeling pretty discouraged just trying to get started and even more frustrated once I began.  One of these days, a drawing like this will take me as long as a bathroom break.  Um… speaking of which… I gotta go!

Happy Birthday Pastor Joe!

I made this for a scrapbook that my church was putting together for Pastor Joe’s birthday.  To my surprise, his wife decided to throw this up on the giant screen for everyone to see.  Anyways, here’s to a Nifty Fifty !  Credit Olwen with the disco theme.

Speed painting

Was listening to the Howl’s Moving Castle soundtrack while trying to do this 1-hour speed painting.  I think for the subject matter, I bit off more than I could chew, but that’s part of the learning process.  I could spend more time on this painting like fixing the lighting and making Sophie more appealing, but I think that defeats the whole purpose of the exercise.  Hopefully it’ll get better with practice.

Shelly

After secluding herself in her cave for the past few weeks, Shelly has been out and about around the tank with her latest batch of babies.  There’s probably about 80 or so attached to the underside of her tail.  It looks as though she’s caught a case of cabin fever and is trying to climb anything in sight to get out of the tank.

Digital life drawings

Did half the session black chalk, the other with the Intuos in last night.  I haven’t gotten around to scanning the traditional stuff because 1) the drawings are bigger than my scanner, and 2) I don’t want to smudge up said-scanner without spraying the drawings.  I tried to do digital drawings at the sessions, but it always ended up like crap.  But last night, I’m resolving to get digital speed painting down or so help me….!!!
